heat source for eglu cube

furry, I'm curious as to how your Cube is working for you, especially with this past winter we just had. I live in Tinley Park and have been contemplating the Cube but didn't know about warmth for chix in the winter time. Also, do you use the run that attaches to Cube from Eglu or did you make your own run? Thanks!

Hi furry,

Just like chicks4erin, I'm interested in how your fared over the winter. I have a Eglu GO which is similar to the original Eglu--which I don't think is made any longer. Sometimes it gets confusing the models that Eglu has because the mind focuses on the original.

It occured to me too---that perhaps some thing less high-tech and more old fashioned -- like a hot water bottle, (in some kind of washable cover) or a brick that was heated during the day may boost the warmth.

I'm also wonderiong if you put supplemental lighting in your Eglu for the winter to provide longer daylight hours. (either to boost egg production or help the hens with their reading after dark... :O) ) My little Go has two places where a chicken Cam could be mounted. Now that would be interesting. But I would like somekind of light that may lengthen the daylight for them....when next winter comes.

Meanwhile worrying about the summers heat right now.

Thanks for updates that you could provide to us based upon the experiences that you have had.
