heat source other than light bulb?

Ceramic heaters and reptile pads are a few things I have used.

I've been using a home made hot water bottle (whatever plastic bottle I have at the moment) I might invest in a real red rubber one soon.

I keep tripping over food dehydrators at the second hand stores in town...the aluminum heat tube looks identical to the ones used in my expensive still air 'bator. I haven't tested them yet, but with a thermostat I think you could achieve efficient and consistent temperature.

I agree with FSW, I had a fanless dehydrator that didn't sell at a yard sale, I'd already cut the cord off the thing for another project and right as I was about to toss the rest out a light bulb went on in my head. Get a Ranco ETC-111000 for the thermostat (I used to trust these with $1,000 snake eggs!) and see how well it works, I would think it's far better than a light bulb. The only thing I don't like about it and the use of the same thing in the Hova is that temps still rise slightly even after the unit has been turned off.
