Heat Spike On Day 7!!! Help!!

How long can the eggs survive a heat spike. we left for only about 2 hours today (had to get out of the house, roads are finally cleared of snow and most of the ice melted). before we left I checked the temp and it was 100.0 exactly and when we got back it was 104.5!!!!

I would say it could have been like this for about an hour.....do you think we still have some live ones???? I think we should candle them to see if the ones that we know were alive sunday night are still alive.

did we cook our eggs??

They should be alright. Just be careful when you try lowing it. You might send it to low. It is better for the temp to be to low verse to high.

They should be just fine. First, open the bator and let some heat out. Then try to figure out what caused the spike. Did the heat in the house go up? Was something blocking the vent holes? Too many vent plugs in? Did the knobs get bumped? If you can, figure out what caused it to prevent it from happening again.

I have had heat spikes a couple of times, it generally works out okay.

Try not to stress.

I had several severe heat spikes. Turned out my surge protector was bad. Got a new [dedicated to bator] one, no more spikes

thanks for making me feel much better. I think I want to candle today....this is our first go round, and of course I am paranoid.

the heat in the house got too hot. I also think I must have adjusted the dimmer a little to bright/high. we had this horrible winter storm and my heat hasn't cut off since it started snowing and we have been burning the fireplace. and it has been very difficult keeping the incubator at a steady temp, because of it. I got the temp down slowly and it has stayed normal. we need to candle them again anyways, and weed out the ones that must not be fertile or not developing.
