Heat stroke, broody hen, blood spots

Good to put a quarter in pic for scale....but....
Fairy egg. Open it up and see what's inside.
Fairy, fart, wind, rooster eggs are usually from a tiny piece of tissue breaking loose from the reproductive tract, or an immature ova(yolk) and the body forms an egg around it. Color can be darker than 'normal' as the pigment coating released has to cover a much smaller area so is thicker. Can happen with any age layer, but more common with new or older layers.

Thanks again to you both. Checked inside of the fairy egg. Nothing but yolk.

A little over a year into raising both layers and broilers, it can be overwhelming how very much we still have to learn. Hopefully one day I can be as knowledgeable a resource for new flocksters... long way to go!

That's interesting. Probably just a one off glitch.
Could be due to the heat, not enough water on board to make the albumen...
...or just got rushed thru due to some kind of stress.

My bad.. only the albumen. Ugh, I do know the difference.

Day one of crate method to break broody Ginger was not successful, but I'll keep trying!

It'll take a few days at least.
Wetting her belly everyday, at least once, will help.
Some folks put a fan blowing under the wire crate when temps are high(over 80°F).
