It going to be over 100 for a few days in our area, this is a jump up from 70 - 80 degrees last week. I dont want my hens to become overheated so I am trying to think of ways to keep them as cool as possible.....I have moved their run into the shade, I might get a big cube of ice and put it in their run for them to peck? Maybe even add some smaller ice cubes into their water?

there are lots of threads with good info. I have their coop shaded, a fan running, ice in their water is good, frozen food scrapes, or freeze scrapes in a block of ice for them to peck, frozen bottles of water for them to lie next to, a wet sheet or fabric just in front of the fan helps. a sprinkler over the roof will help--if it's not too high of humidity a mister running--watch where the run off goes to no sense in starting mold in the coop/run. a shallow pan of water they can wade through, mine did not do this one. possible electrolytes in their water?
