Apple Cider Vinegar (unfiltered)
I use a heated pet bed (bought for my cats, who used it for all of 1-2 days, then ignored it). It is a hard plastic shell with a fleece cover on the top. I took the fleece cover off and set the base on patio blocks (mainly to keep them from scratching shavings / hay into the water) and it never froze solid last year, even in some single digit temps in an uninsulated chickenhouse.
