Heated Water Base

I just got my heated base for my water and it says not to use an extension cord. I am going to use it in the run. Is it going to be an issue. My extension cord will be about 40 ft.

Use a heavy duty construction type extension cord.
I'd guess their warning is meant for the more common , thinner, indoor type cords
