Heated waterer? How do you keep your water thawed?

What do you put on top to transfer heat? It's a more efficient design, less heat escaping through the sides and focused upward, unlike a cookie tin heater which wastes alot of energy through the sides. Mine is a similar design but taller, holds a 5 gallon bucket within the insulated box.
Metal flashing on top. Going to try and do that tonight. Tired from all that digging i did today.

Here is the completed unit.

I will test as soon as it gets cold enough here...

Oh ye of little faith! The edges are not accessible , and they do not stick out. They are screwed down . The entire perimeter of the metal is supported by a frame of wood and is screwed down. The waterer will have water in it. The chickens will be able to drink. Fear not. I will post pictures once it is installed. I am also planning to run the cord through pvc so they don't peck it. Not my first rodeo!;)

Not my first rodeo!;)
....and not your first unproven 'invention'. ;)
Were just trying to help.

This is what caught my eye, that corner especially and even edge appears to be raised. Thin sheet metal can be incredibly sharp.
