Heating lamp red or white?

Which heat lamp should get the red or white? Whats the difference i would like to know opinions since i have access to both thanks in advance

Red is best in case of pecking-they can't see blood as well and are less likely to pick at an injured chick. It doesnt happen often but better safe than sorry

Is that the only perk does one calm them better or anything like that?

Helping prevent pecking/cannabilism is a pretty big perk! I use a red bulb, and when I turn on the daytime lights, the chicks spring to life, so a white heat bulb would probably interfere with their sleep as well as cause pecking.

Ok. I have always use a white one and used a red once and the red seemed to calm them but I didnt know if it was the chickens and the light and I have never had a problem with chickens pecking so I wasnt to worried but your right that is a big perk
