Who uses a 1,500 watt heat lamp???? That’s insane. It would also cook your chicks instantly. 250 watts is plenty and is exactly the size TSC sells. I’ve never seen any other size in the store.

I don't even use a 250. Good grief!! That would be like an actual small sun.

It’s only 3 pages. Read back. I was focusing on the 1500W. Someone is trying hard to make heat lamps look really bad compared to the heat plates.

Ah, yes...sorry...thanks for the link.
That's just ridiculous marketing nonsense to support their power percentage.
I didn't even notice it as size of plate was the question at the time.

I used this heat plate outside in a playhouse for 15-18 chicks. I don't think it keeps them warm enough at this time of year. I had one die on me, but when I moved them into the basement everyone was happy, healthy, and thriving.

My brooder is outside but I plastic most of the way around it so no breezes get on them and so far they’re doing fine. I’m also in NC so we don’t get super bad weather i’ll try to get a picture of their brooder.
