Heating plate

Thanks for starting this and all replies I have always used a heat lamp but just bought a heat plate and needed reassurance on what to expect and set it at height wise.

I didn’t have time to order something different. But the babies love the mama heating pad/feather duster combo. They sit on top of the heating pad under the duster where it’s cozy.

Just thought I'd add my post-brooding update. I used Premier 1 heat plates and LOVED them. I haven't checked with Premier 1, but I also think I could probably hang them if I need heat in the coop in winter. It's such a relief to not worry about the fire risk associated with a heat lamp.
CAVEAT: I used sand for bedding, and this morning I took apart the heat plates to clean the sand out of the leg-adjustment mechanisms. By the end of brooding, the legs were nearly impossible to adjust because just a tiny bit of sand got in there. So for me, next time I'll use shavings with the heat plates. (I'm also no longer using sand in the coop, but that's a different topic.) So that's my latest 2¢. :)
