Hi!

Just looking for recommendations on a heating plate. Amazon has several different brands (Rent-a-coop, Brinsea, Rural 365) and sizes. Is there a brand you would recommend?

Also, the sizes seem to be as follows 10"x10" , 12x12, 16x16 etc. It says 10x10 will warm up to 15 chicks. Is this accurate?

Thanks!

Example of a few I found

I bought two brinsea ecoglows a while back - they were the only ones without reviews talking about melting/burning. I’ve had no issues with them - they work great, chicks naturally wean off them around 3-4 weeks old.

I have 2 of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N7U6BUJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and we love them. Ours are 12" and are fine so far for our 11 five day olds and everyone fits right now, no problem. Not sure how it will work when they are 3 weeks old and older though.

I'm a fan of the Premier1 plates, but a 10x10 plate is not gonna work for 15 chicks in my experience. Get the 12x12 at least. FWIW, I think they're all probably made in the same factory in China.

Thank you for the feedback!! I will get the 16x16 to have added space for growing.

I've looked at both brinsea and premier1 but they are both back ordered :hmm Im on the notification list for when they re-stock so hopefully they will be back in stock before I need one!

What size are yours? Brinsea mentions 600,1200 and 50 but it doesn't give the dimensions.

Thanks! There are some plates that come with an anti-roost cone. Thoughts on that? Is it a big deal if they climb on top of the heating plate?
