Heating Water

I love the idea of renting a trench digger and running not only an electrical line but water line as well! Right now I have to haul a hose back and forth everyday and it's a total pain. Does anyone know what type of wiring or hose one would use?

How do gamebirds and ducks survive in the wild if all their water is frozen? Don't they eat snow? Why can't or don't domestic birds do that?

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and try the Solar Sipper. I'll post how it works sometime in November/December.

"One thing you can do, is to use a car battery, a metal oil pan and a battery heating pad. Do what is needed to plug the heater to the battery. Use a good silicone to adhere the heater to the inside of the pan. Cut a small hole on the side for the cord.

You can't run the heating pad directly off the car battery.

You need an inverter to change it to 115 volts AC.

You'll also need at least 2 pads, because you will have to warm both the battery and the water, which means a larger inverter and more battery drain.

Then you'll need a Deep Cycle battery )or two) to get enough run time, and it will have to be recharged every day, which will require running a generator 8-12 hours, or having enough solar panels to put out 10 amps for at least that long

Which in the end means you'd be just as well off to power the heater with a generator to begin with
