Hi,
I have 5 hens and I'm concerned about one of them.I'm hoping someone can help.
She's a Bovan Goldline and I have noticed over the past 3-4 days she has been quieter than usual. She won't eat or drink (I've had to force water down her to ensure she is hydrated) She won't move around and just sits in one place, as if she is about to lay an egg. Her breathing is abnormally heavy, and she appears to be opening her mouth very wide for each breath. Her abdomen area is extremely bloated/swollen, she's not normally a large girl! I don't think there is an egg inside of her but I can't be 100% sure.
Any ideas?

i have 1 at the moment just like this, shes bloated walks like a penguin eating and drinking but ive put her in a seperate pen,im treating for everything ! coccidiosis, giving acv in water, calcium boost, cant feel an egg , did you find out what was wrong with yours?

Thanks for sharing... it's not good news unfortunately, we buried Martha 12 days ago.She had 'sour crop' and had to be tipped upside down to remove the infected liquid, and she fell and broke her neck.. was awful but at least she's no longer in pain. Hope your girl has a better time

so so sorry! we have wormed her today just in case! seems a bit perkier but still swollen
