my 4 1/2wk old RIR is breathing really heavy. i would put her outside to scratch and be a chicken. i looked in her nose and saw dirt in her nose. could this kill her?? is it going to be a major problem. i cant lose another 1. PLEASE HELP ME.

what do you mean another one?

can you give more information?

have you looked at the sticky on top for symptoms?

well i had 4 be 4 and they died and i dont want to lose this 1 too cause i have wanted chickens since i was 1yr old. i dont want this 1 to die for this.

oh yea. she is acting normal but when she isn't chirping you can hear her breathing heavily.

no gugling but she does sneeze every once in a while.

is sneezing a problem??

When you say she is acting normal, do you mean, playing and dirt bathing and scratching and eating? If so, the heavy breathing could be panting. I'm assuming it's really hot in Florida this time of year. It is here and my chickens sit around and pant a lot, breathing from their open mouths - usually hanging out under bushes somewhere to get out of heat.
