Heavy breathing! Please help!

I have a serious question. I was looking up more about respiratory illness and the symptoms sound the same. But what do i do with the rest of my flock? Are they in any immediate danger?

I'm glad that you were doing some research. Respiratory illnesses can have symptoms similar to what you saw with your hen, but without testing/necropsy as @barred2rock suggested, there's no way to know the cause of death.

I'm sorry that your vet was unable to give you a clearer picture of what was causing her difficulty in breathing, there is a very long list of things it could have been - from aspirating food/liquids, crop issues, heart/organ failure, reproductive disorders to respiratory illness.

Just keep a watch on your flock - if you notice heavy mucous coming from the nostrils, a discharge or pus from the eyes accompanying coughing, continuous sneezing and difficulty breathing, then you should see your vet.

One of them, Daisy, has sneezed a couple of times with mucous. I am going to look at her more tomorrow. I cannot take more time off school to take her to the vet, but i will see what i can do.
