HEAVY METAL POISONING in Ducks: No Appetite, Falling, Weight Loss, Lethargy

@DucksOhio what ever happened with your duck? Hope she made it!
Thanks for asking.

Sadly she passed away at the vet clinic. The doctor performed a necropsy and found “tons” of undeveloped tiny eggs in her reproductive system...not necessarily egg bound, but he believed that was the issue, not the metal. And it didn’t show up on the X-ray.

Broke my heart. She was such a sweet young khaki girl.

Makes me think that there will be issues when ducks like these are bred to be egg birds.

Omg ! I’m so stressed right now. I discovered that my female Muscovy house duck liked shiny things. I saw her eating spare change and I was like omg no since when are you there. One day passed (yesterday),she was fine. Today, all start when I offer her cheese and taste it and shake her head while normally she jumps on it. I was like omg you don’t like it ? Well the day continues and I saw her crushing into the wall....I googled and I saw metal poisoning. Panick. I’m still on the panick. I found some changes in her water bowl, I guess that she vomit some...I’m so scared I know that she ate change but I don’t know the quantity but a lot I think cause there was 6 penny in her water bowl....I mustn’t lose her, really....but I couldn’t pay for the surgery, and if there is a lot of chance that she doesn’t make it...I’ll see tomorrow how she will be (if she is not dead....)if she is better yay but if not....will need to go to the vet but I couldn’t put her to sleep omg so now I’m just panicking my life :( She is only 10 months old like nooo not now we have a large life to live together.....
Sorry for your losses, by the way...
