Height of Hanging feeder/waterer?

I thought I was the only one trying not to lose the 'S' hook.

Searching through the pine shavings to find it....or chasing the lucky winner who thought she found something special. I've thought about crimping it also but then adjusting the height would be more difficult.....I like David's idea...maybe the DH can orchestrate that for me.

I hang mine at the height between their back and their head...of course...giving allowance for the littlest one in the group. Definitely keeps them from billing out too much feed. And keeps the water cleaner. Have fun....

You know, I drilled a screw into the rafter and doubled tie wire and hung the feeder from that. When I need to adjust, I just wind the wire around the screw more and re-hang it. Technical stuff, isn't it?

I screw a threaded hook into the rafter and use swing set chain to go from the feeder to the hook. I can adjust it in about 2 seconds to accommodate the birds as they grow but slipping a different link onto the hook (I can reach it from the floor).

i was told that having a "feeder" wasnt good for your chickens beak?? i have a pretty big yard and just pour the food out and make em "work" for their food,,,so was the dude that told me that crazy? ,,,we're new to this so im full of questions,,hehe,,,,Nice to meet everyone
