No they are not our chicks - just needed a quick picture. Here they are.... 10 weeks old! So cute. Iām afraid the speckled sussex is a cockerel. ???Hi! Welcome to BYC! We're excited to have you here! Those hens in your avatar are not the December chicks. Have you had chickens before? What breed of chicks did you get?
Thank you! Iām so sad - I was praying it was too soon to tell as they are so beautiful when fully grown. I wanted all pullets but knew there was a 5% chance. My neighbors would kill me if I kept it.I realized after I asked the question, that you had already said these were your first chicks.
Thanks for sharing the photos! They are adorable! I love that age!!!
I do think you have a cockerel there. Hope you wanted one. They can present some problems if this is your first time with chickens, but they are not insurmountable, unless you are in an area that doesn't allow them.
I'm sorry to hear that. But, comparing him to the girls, that comb is a bit of a give away. But, hey, one of my pullets looked like a cockerel at 8-10 weeks, so I could be wrong.Thank you!
