Hello all! I am new to chickens and preparing for the arrival of 15 chicks in May. I have Australorps, Barred Plymouth Rocks, Columbian Wyandottes, and black laced silver Wyandottes coming! I’m in southwest Iowa so hoping they will be hardy and still give a few eggs over winter! My purpose for getting chickens was to raise my own eggs for eating and to get a simple livestock type animal for my kids to learn about animal husbandry and responsibility with a “quick” payoff - getting eggs!
