I have been reading on this forum for a few days and just decided to say hi!

I live in southern Michigan and recently obtained 2 Narragansett hens from a friend of a friend. I'm very excited to use a Tom that 2 people said I can borrow for spring. Right now the 2 hens are in my chicken coop that is 8x8 with an outdoor run. I am giving them layer chicken feed from TSC and have a heater bowl for their water supply. and the hens are about 1 years old.

So if any of you want to pass on advice for me I am willing to learn:)

I have raised layers and bantams in the past so I have a little experience with birds, but nothing other than basic care.

I really like the forum and all your great enthusiasm for turkeys. I can't wait until the hens warm up to me and I get to have the fun you all have been talking about!

from Pennsylvania! I don't have turkeys yet but I have turkey eggs on order from a fellow BYCer, S and S Poultry. Good luck with your turkeys!

At one year old the turkeys are treated much the same as your chickens. Only they eat more feed, the fun starts when you introduce the Tom .

Good Luck

In another few months you might want to switch feed to a gamebird breeder ration. And did anyone think to mention that turkeys are addictive?
