I was an active member here, several years ago, but when I moved to Alaska I didn't have chickens and stopped logging in. Within the next several months I hope to purchase a house of my own and start keeping chickens again. While in OKC, OK, we kept breeds that were heat tolerant but now I need to learn about keeping cold tolerant chickens and how to keep them prospering through what can occasionally be -10 to -30 temperatures. I will be doing a lot of research and probably asking a lot of questions. Thanks to all who welcome me back and more thanks to those who may become tired of all my questions as I learn a new way to keep chickens.

Welcome Back to Backyard Chickens, the pulse beat of the chicken community.
I think your best bet would be to contact member "Alaskan." Also Chanticleer chickens were developed to handle the extremes of Canadian winters.

You can also start a conversation with him.
