šŸ¤£ It certainly has been interesting raising each batch approx. two weeks apart! Iā€™m a city girl new to the country life and way way new to chickens (I have 5 dogs as well). šŸ˜†
I forget how long it took us to build the coop.. we were also working and remodeling our kitchen at the same time. I canā€™t believe my brain kinda sorta works still. Oh well, everyone still gets fed on time, thatā€™s the important thing right? šŸ˜

I have to say the biggest surprise is how different their little personalities are. I have two pullets that wonā€™t let me take a step without being under my feet and wonā€™t let me leave the run without holding them each for a minute or two; and others that wonā€™t let me get near them unless I have worms or broccoli treats of course. šŸ¤£

I think so, but we also have 6-7 Roos to be moved out today to the roo bachelor pad we just put together. Itā€™s really just an old covered outdoor dog run with some fixing up for them. Damn my love for animals.. I just couldnā€™t give the boys up for meat birds. šŸ™„ They will roam the property and keep an eye on the ladies Iā€™m hoping. šŸ˜

Hi, Jilly, where in California are you? I'm a chicken newby in far northern coastal Cal's "temperate rainforest", almost Oregon, after living for years in sunblasted, hot & dry urban SoCal. Everyone at BYC has been so friendly and helpful, and the forums cover myriad questions & topics on all things chicken. Welcome to this great group!
