In the Brooder
Thought I would introduce myself this morning. I've been frequenting this site over the last couple of months to help me prepare for my chicks I recently purchased and decided I would join in on the fun.
First things first, I am a young married man in north Alabama and current graduate student at UA. Roll Tide!
Last week I bought my first 6 chicks: 2 Cream Legbars, 2 Black Sexlinks and 2 Buff Orpingtons. All are doing great and some of them have already exhibited unique personalities. Although, I'm finding that these 1-2 week old chicks seem to prefer the brooder temp between 75-80 degrees which threw me for a loop. I was trying to follow the guidelines, but I suppose if the chicks tell me different then it's no sweat (cheap pun haha).
A little note about my username. About 13 years ago I was a sophomore in high school and extremely skinny. One day, two girls decided to pick on my tall, slender size in addition to my last name and dubbed me 'Chicken-Wing King'. I thought the username would be appropriate now lol. Didn't care for it much back then haha.
Anyways, can't wait to watch these hens grow and see what all this has to entail. I really enjoy the forums here and it has definitely been a big help! Thanks all!
