What an informative site. We're going to be building a hen house soon and could use all the tips we can get.

Hi, If your anywhere in cold climate, you need a well insulated hen house.But before you can build a hen house, you must keep in mind to find a breed of chicken that's sturdy to the cold...
My first tip is to find the best kind of wood to build the coop, the wood depends on what you have available to you. I would suggest pine or cedar. Build the coop to be sturdy and weather-resistant; this means from wind, snow, hail and other possibilities. But I'm not a coop expert so to help I would suggest putting hay in the coop stalls and maybe painting it a dark color so that it will absorb the heat of the sun. I hope this helps!
