First off, hello again. i live in a little town north of Harrisburg, PA. really little. the whole town is suppose to have like 200 people. but I really believe they are counting the cats and dogs also. I will come and say I am a prepper. not a crazy one.. Just want to not buy everything from a store. So I have been gardening, and hunting, and trying my luck at sewing with a 1906 singer. I have some rabbits but wanted chicken. not only for the eggs, but bc when I was younger i lived on a farm and I always thought they were funny birds. Well the guy I bought my beehives off of, heard I was looking for chickens and gave me 5 ameraucana chickens. or easter eggers. One was a rooster. I didn't want a rooster bc of the noise, but i was promised he was quiet. after 2 weeks of the rooster crowing at 5AM I am down to four birds. the rooster had to go back home. The birds are no where near as lovely as some of te birds in the group. but they are mind and I grown attached to them. i have one speckled white one (snow white) and three gray ones. Mamma( who is big and fat and bossy) old gray( who is this little gray bird who is gentle and will give you a piece of her mind if things are out of place) Vulture ( my 8 year old named, Who seems to be the escape artist of the group, but best egg layer) I found this site when Snow would not get off the nest, I found out here that called being broody. Of course, i did thing all wrong so trying to get her better. As i said I live in town, with only a 1/4 acre lot. in a 112 year old victorian. Which sound nice till you realize it's over a hundred years old. And I found out it was once considered haunted.(code word runned down) but me and my wife fell in love with it. And the town. i know everyone's dog. Only bc my chow chow keeps running off to say hello to each one of them. i looked at many of the coops on the page and I have to tell ya i have coop envy. But I am building a new one for the girls I want to get about 7 more birds for a nice egg laying production and garden bug eaters. And to better understand me. i am a computer networker. not a builder, but I like to. or a farmer but I am getting way much better at growing. So I hope I can be a service to many on the board and I know with the wisdom on the site, I will be a great chicken herds.( what I was called when i was out side making chicken noises to encourage the birds to go back into the coop and out of the nieghbors yard...
