I'm Trishanna from LazyJFarm. We've just become members and look forward to learning a lot. We have lots of animals on our mini farm to include goats, a horse, cats, a dog, turtles, rabbits, ducks & chickens. Most importantly, we do 4H so I am real interested in learning and sharing.

Hi :welcome Trishanna

Glad you could join the flock! Your mini farm sounds fantastic!! I would love to able to keep some goats and have the horse at home but right now do not have the space. Hoping to in the future though. You have certainly come to the right place for all the learning and sharing. Have you dropped by the learning centre? Lots of great article son all aspects of chicken keeping. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Wishing you the very best of luck with your farm and all your animals in the future.
Enjoy BYC :frow

Not yet. I've been scrolling through the emergency section. I have a 2 1/2 day naturally incubated crossbred duckling with a unusable leg that got out of its little nest box early this morning. It now looks like it won't survive because it either rubbed it abdomen open or was attacked by a mouse. I can see its intestines and everything. I placed it in our incubater w/ food and water but the prognosis doesn't look good.

I'm sorry to hear about your duckling :hugs Certainly does not sound good for him. As you say possibly rubbed it open or as he's is newly hatched the open navel where the umbilical was may not have had chance to heal as he cant use his leg.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Sounds like you have a great variety of animals! Good luck with them all. I'm very sorry to hear about your duckling.
