Hi. I am in California, and am expecting my first ever ducklings next week. I am so excited. Loving all the information. I am getting two Cayugas, a male and female. I am in love with their dark feathers. They will be pets, don't think I could handle slaughtering them for meat, and I know my husband can't lol.

Welcome to BYC, and good luck with your ducklings. Any chance on getting three? That way if something happens to one two still remain as company for one another.

I wanted to get four at first, but my husband thought I should start with a pair. My plan is to get another pair after about a month or so, assuming that I can meet the needs of the first two.

So am I, especially since there is no one in my immediate circle of friends and family who has experience with raising ducks lol. I have gotten so much useful information from this site
