Hello to all of you backyard chicken members. We are very excited and looking forward to learning everything we can from you all. I am a disabled veteran of the Iraq war with a wife and 5 kids. We currently live about 40 miles north of HOUSTON Texas...however we are looking to purchase some land in the next year or so. Until then we are planning on purchasing 4 chickens (Silkies) since we live in a neighborhood..any advise or help would be greatly appreciated

Hi, it's nice to have you here! One thing to keep in mind about Silkies, they are hard to sex until they mature so you may want to get adult birds to avoid ending up with a flock of all males (unless that's what you want).
