Hiya! We bought a small farm about a year ago and have been remodeling it ever since.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Super new, our girls arrived four weeks ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We have 18! Which didn't seem like a lot until they were about 3 weeks old, living in a dog playpen in our dining room, and growing fast! 🤣

(3) What breeds do you have? Well, that's a really good question! I got a "rainbow egg layer assortment" from the Cackle Hatchery... I think I have 5 different breeds. 🤷‍♀️

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? EGGS! I have to admit chickens are also super cute.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I collect hobbies so this could be a long list... lasercutting, 3d printing, design, woodworking, aerial, silversmithing, beading, sewing, and many others that I don't have time for while remodeling our entire farm...

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I just bought a farm, adopted a pitbull named Share Bear, and got some chickens! After living in the city, raising kids, and working in the video games industry for 20 years, this is a huge change. So far it has been a ton of work and quite an adventure.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D.
I have a friend who raises pigeons, she told me this is the place to find answers to chickens, the chicken universe, and everything... I hope the answer isn't 42 😅

Bonus Bonus: Our coop (almost done!), built from materials salvaged from the house... cedar from old siding, marble poop board from a fireplace, cabinet doors, a chandelier. We reused so many things, not wanting to go to the hardware store has been very influential on this design.
🤣
🤷‍♀️

We are just hoping we didn't make too many noob mistakes, I guess the chickens will tell us when we move them in this weekend. Let me know if you see any issues!
