hello all

Welcome to BYC, Jessica.
Don't mix the oyster shell in with their feed. Just put it in a seperate dish, and let them have access to it free choice. They will take what they need, when they need it and you'll have better quality eggshells. Also keep in mind that their first eggs may be very small and have some glitches, such as thin or nonexistent shells.

Hi my name is Jessica. My boyfriend and 4 kids are all new moms to 8 sex link chicks, well they are about 8 weeks old now and growing fast. I joined here to see if it would give me helpful hints on how to raise these chickens. I love them all so much already. I got them some chicken toys to keep busy, oyster shells and some herbs and spices google said to mix with their feed. Currently Im going to put contactor sand and bedding in their run to see if its easier to clean up all their poop.
Hi Jessica! Welcome to BYC! :frow

It sounds like you have a lot of poop. Just a suggestion to look into horse bedding pellets. We love those as they dehydrate the poop and have zero odors. Message me if you'd want more info. Otherwise, have fun with those chickens!! ☺️
