Hello everyone! I have been a chicken-keeper on and off since childhood. I've had my current set-up for the last 3 years or so and thoroughly enjoy my flock.

I have 21 at the moment, but 5 are roosters and 3 of those are slated for the pot!

I don't know my breeds well enough to say what I have. Some are brown, some are gold, some are black/white speckles.

Definitely the eggs are the best part of having chickens! I do love when the whole flock runs up through the grass and it's like being swarmed by tiny dinosaurs haha. And they are fantastic garbage disposals, bug eliminators, and fertilizer factories.

I also keep rabbits and a garden/orchard. If only I could talk my husband into real live homesteading...

I’m trying to convince mine that we need some barn cats to mitigate our mouse problem.... but he’s thinking traps will work (despite the fact that they have not worked all summer and they are moving into the structures!) 🤦‍♀️
