Hello, I am a new mom to 6 chickens. Got them from a farming store when they were just little chicks. Bought them all as pullets but i have a dominant hen who has formed into a rooster and crows. Not loudly, just soft and started about 1 month ago. Her name is SteveO ( i have heard roosters start crowing when they are little chicks and steveo never did, just recently). I still have not named my other 5. I am excited to learn all about my chickens. As i love farm animals but i live on a 1/4 acre lot so cant have them all.

Welcome! I'm new here too. 7 chickens that I sure hope are pullets... Silkies, Welsummers, and a bantam Easter Egger. I hope you have as much fun with yours as I'm having with mine. Do you know what breeds you have, or are they mystery chickens? How old are they now?

I can relate about loving the farm animals. I would love to have all sorts of things, but I do live in town. I do have horses, but I board them nearby. I have to say, though, that the chickens are a LOT less work and money!

Different breeds tend to mature at different rates. I've had some crow early and others later, my Buff Orpington didn't crow until he was about 7 months old.
