New to the forum and new to raising chickens. I've also discovered that after a couple of months we have a rooster that I have to get rid of immediately. Please help.

Welcome to the forum! Your best best bet for getting rid of roosters is offering them for free on Craigslist or culling them yourself. There are several threads on humane euthanasia and humane processing. Good luck!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You can either eat your rooster or try and give him away. You might try posting him on Craigslist. Or you might check with your local feed store. They may know of someone who would like to have him. Or they may even have a bulleting board you can advertise him on. Or you might check with your local 4h. One of the students might like to have him. Or maybe Tom M can take him.) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting rid of your rooster.

There are just so many roosters out there, it's not easy finding a new home for one. Michael O'Shay had some good suggestions, certainly worth trying. If you do want him for your own consumption but don't want to do the actual processing, call around and try to find a place that will process the roo for you (for a charge of course).

Good luck!
