I just got 6 chicks the week of May4th. I am learning as I go. I live in upstate New York and have so many questions and concerns: When can I put them outside? What should I feed them? How should I safeguard my coop against predators: We have them all, hawks, raccoons, coyotes, bobcats. I'm a wreck!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Congrats on your new chicks :clap It sure can be nerve wracking when you get them as you want to what's best for them. Have you checked out the learning centre? https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
Lots of great articles there that cover all your questions. Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

Great to have another poultry lover!

Please check out the coops section and also the predators threads to learn what safeguards you can put into place. With that list of predators, I expect you will want to keep them in a large safe, run - instead of allowing them to free range. Everything loves to eat chicken and once they get lucky, they will keep coming back until there are none left, or you Stop them in their tracks.
