Hey folks, we found a chicken here (Ventura CA) that was tiny- I assumed it was a Serama and posted her in their thread. Somebody there let me know she's an OEGB.
Anyway, I'm hoping to get her back to her owner, but if the owner can't be found, I wouldn't mind passing her to someone out here who has a flock she can go to. Very pretty little thing, seriously about the size of a pigeon, and very human friendly, lets me pick her up. My big flock won't let her join them here, they probably think she's a sparrow stealing food.

Anyway, she is banded (green band) and white and tan in color. Pictures to follow.

Any help finding her a home or finding her owner would be appreciated.

She is really pretty i would take her if I lived a little closer.

Where do you guys show your bantams? Could I see some show quality birds, especially Crele?

I joined the OEGB Club of America. There is a forum that has a list of shows. I usually go to about 5 a season. Dont have any for sale at this time.

I lost my gold duckwing roo yesterday. He got out of the pen and one of my dogs got him. I only showed him twice and he went BV both times. I'm looking for another one-would like a young cockerel if anyone knows of any.

I am looking forward to spring, so I separated my OEGBs back into their breeding pin. They have been in the community pin with my LF or free ranging for the last few months. When I did, they all started to squabble and reestablish the pecking order. What worries me is that I think my rooster is at the bottom of it. If so will the hens let him breed? I hope so because I only kept the one rooster to put over my three hens. Please let me know what you think, Tina

Hello,

We received our first OEGB pair about 2 months ago and love their curious, confident, outgoing personalities!

We were told our rooster & hen were red pyle in color, but I haven't been able to locate any pictures of red pyle roosters with black tail feathers. (Or maybe he IS red pyle and just not show-worthy. It's ok though, their our pets and we love them!)

Could you folks kindly help us identify their color?

He's a cross of 2 varieties. Not sure of what. Are the tail feathers black or blue ? He looks like a sport of some kind. The hen looks red pyle though.

not the expert but, looks to me like he has the splash "Bl" gene (homozygous) rather than the dominant white
breed him to some blacks and see if the babies are blue

GAGirly ~ Honestly, I'm not sure. In normal lighting, a number of his tail feathers appear solid black, some appear dark gray (blue) and some are both black (or dark gray) and white on the same feather.

PastorWalt ~ Next time I'll definitely ask more questions before acquiring my birds. Breeding him to a black is a good idea. We never thought about that!

I'm still learning about chickens and OEGBs in particular. Thank you for bearing with my descriptions! lol!

Does he have some blue feathers in his white areas on his sides and chest ? It looks like he does. There's a possibility he's a cross between a red pyle and a lemon blue. I've seen some lemon blue sports that had splash markings in the areas he has. You might could possibly breed him to a lemon blue hen. The lemon in the babies might be a little too red or orange (although I've seen lemon blues shown that were more orange than lemon colored including my rooster).
