Hello everyone, at last I have found where I can post my hello. :)

I have three chickens and keep them in my green eglu in the garden...I love to chat about chooks so hope I can join in really soon..

My girls are Agatha and Daphne , 2 Rhode Island Reds, and Henrietta a Cream Legbar...

They are pets who will hopefully lay soon...they are 23 weeks and 22 weeks old respectively..

We have a dog, two cats and a couple of goldfish too...

Your hens should start laying soon. With the shorter and colder days, it might take longer than usual. Unless your in the warmer part of the country! You'll find us eager to help and sometimes a bit nutty.
Just saw that you are from another country!! So cool!

You will love it here! I have 3 girls in my garden too! How do you like the Eglu?? I really contemplated getting one of those, it looks so cool! I have a RIR, Black Star & a Buff Orp. They all started laying at 22.5 weeks old.

Hi, Cordelia! Good luck with your soon-to-be-laying chickens. You'll find a few other countrymen here on the BYC. "English Chick" is one I can think of.

I think my part of the country wont match any of your, as you all have so many climates...

lol just seen the last part of your post....

I had just updated my country :-D

Oh the Eglu is great..had it since August...its easy to clean, warm for the girls and I've added an extension to it (converter) so that if they cant free range..they have plenty of room...

wow so many replies !! thanks for the welcome...

you forget how many people are out there... :-D

(I've been lucky enough to visit Texas... (Austen, San Antonio? and Houston ??, the Alamo) I think....as well as the Tourist places around Disney and Florida..some years ago now though

you have a great country...and I love my chickens !!! So I'll love chatting and asking for advice...

thank you :)

I must get used to thinking on a larger scale...

I've read where peoples chickens are getting attacked by bob cats (not quite sure what they look like) and other big animals...

(we dont have them)...oh and snakes..and bears....

also I havent heard of all the things people eat...gumbo??

and people are more descriptive, religious and more thoughtful, but I've noticed that when we have American Reality shows on TV...people express themselves so much better in America, and analyse more...

I watch lots of American police detective shows,( Third Watch, the Closer, Without a Trace, as well as Greys Anatomy and House ) and those are just so much better than English ones....they have humour...

as do your comedy programmes (they have intelligent humour..thinking Frasier, still being repeated here), where ours are obsessed with sex and smut, and cant be watched by families...we dont even bother watching them ...they are all the same.....

Its a shame we export some of them to you too......(the awful shameful ones...)thinking Little Britain...truly awful...

Sorry to rant....on...
Its really interesting to see the differences....between us all....due in part to the vastness of your country.

But we all seem to love chickens...I just wish I had more..
