(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes, due to arrive May 26th, 2020
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? None, been researching and caring for my parent's chicken when I visit them. Finally ready to get my own!
(3) What breeds do you have? I am waiting for the following chicks: Barred Plymouth Rock, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Black Jersey Giant, Blue/Black Splash Orpington, Black Silkie Bantam. (I tried to get them all in similar colors so none stands out and get picked on)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Win Win Win, no waste! They like kitchen scraps, they are adorable and they provide eggs & fertilizer.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Reading articles, researching and watching "how to care for chicken" videos on Youtube. Love gardening and caring for my orchids!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Have a daughter about to go off to college to study environmental studies (she is going to advocate for our environment & save the world!) and an amazing loving son, both are wrestlers and adore animals. We have two dogs, a 25 pound Shih Tze and a 85 pound dobbie. I am a real estate agent in the Northern California. (East Bay)
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Google, I've been on the site for several months now.. now that I finally ordered my coop from Carolina Coops and my chicks, I figure it was time to join this wonderful community!
