I’ve always wanted backyard chickens and so when my family moved to our new home with acreage, I finally got my chickens! In April 2017 I became a chicken mama to an 8wk old Barred Rock pullet and an 8wk old Buff Orpington pullet.

Over the course of the last several months of having the girls, I’ve turned to BYC many times to search posts for information to help me. I was always inspired by the dedication and helpfulness of the BYC community.

Recently, I unfortunately lost my 10 month old Buff named Coco to what I believe was Egg Yolk Peritonitis. It was after losing Coco that I decided to join BYC. Besides being an awesome community, I know that the attachment and subsequent sadness that I feel over losing Coco will truly be understood by many in this community.

I am so sorry you lost your Coco. :hugs I know how hard it is to lose them. Breaks the heart.

Lots of us lurked before joining, this IS the place for all the fun and learning!

So sorry to hear of your loss. I hope fond memories bring some comfort.

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.
