Hello BYC! I'm Winter, 15 years old and I'm from Redneck country[around the northern states] I've always had a chicken from I think the age of 7, were I first fell in love with chickens because of my rooster Kanoodle [may he rest in peace], after a few years we got a flock of Rhode Island Reds that lived past 5 years and they still laid strong! Last year the predators and I believe sickness took my last chickens and so this year we have started fresh. New barn, New coop....EVERYTHING! We started with 15 Rhode island reds in March or May and now have 10, and after them we got 26 Buff Orpington, which now 24 remain...I think. Out of both batches we got two surprise roosters, of which one is now doing his duty and the other painfully confused at his differences with the hens. My family also owns 6 goats, 2 horses, 2 cats and one dog.
It's nice to meet all of you. I've been trolling the site for a few days and have learned so much from it! I'm hoping next year to start incubating around 10-12 eggs at the beginning of each month...maybe. I'm super excited to become part of the BYC community!
