I am a newb at raising chickens and ducks! My 4 and 10 year old daughters and I are having fun learning all about the chickens and ducks. My Husband is severely handicapped and he is starting to enjoy watching them play. We started with a small coop with 5 Barred rocks and 1 something (can't think of it now). We got them about a month ago from by brother who introduced us to this site. SInce then we built a much larger coop (go big or go home) and have added more chickens and ducks
We are now up to 12 chickens:
2 Rhode Island Reds
A Buff Orphington
Blue Splash Cornish (what I've read on the threads looks like it's molting)

Also @ the BYC chicken stock Saturday I got:
2 Blue Layced Wyandotts'
2 Pekin Ducks
also picked up my brothers 3 Muscovey Ducklings.

They all seem to be doing really good right now. My 4 year old stits out there with them for hours playing with the chickens. The Ducks don't like our pond yet..It has alot of duck weed in it at the moment.

Been here 6 years and still trying to get rid of duck weed.
I have been reading the threads and getting great information plus the Chicken stock was very helpful!
