Good morning or good afternoon from Arizona!
So I came across this forum by looking up information on google about starting a flock of little hens to get eggs. I was honestly tired of how the industrial egg was. You’d boil it and lose half the egg trying to peel it, you’d set it down wrong and instantly crack, or you would cook it and it be tasteless without seasoning it with a poop ton of spices! I just wanted healthier and tastier eggs for my family.
We were supposed to only get four chicks, 2 Buff Orpington and 2 RIR but because I bought them from Cal Ranch and wasn’t sure just exactly how healthy they were, I ended up with six healthy and happy little nuggets ( 3 of each)! My sweet little peeping flock are learning how to keep the kitten busy and my household as well!
I have had chickens before but it was a really long time ago (I was 15). I had fertilized eggs that I placed into our gas oven which had a pilot light and low and behold! Babies! But I really wanted more now as an adult with a teenaged daughter. Hopefully I can keep up with y’all who have had them a lot longer and more consistently!
I don’t have a coop as of yet but I’m working on it. Right now my little nuggets live in a tote with a heating lamp in my living room where they scream and holler if I go too far for too long!
I give you : Nugget (aka : Chicken Hawk), Ginger, Cooper, Peekaboo, Cream Puff and “Unknown” (because one of the people in the house don’t know what to name the poor baby)
