In the past, I had a small farm, fruit, veg, chickens and goats and hubby and I started thinking we were too old and moved into town. We were miserable and have recently bought 5 acres and moved to the country and starting anew since so much was sold. While we don’t want to take on as much as before, we missed our critters and have started to get more. We acquired an RIR red rooster and 2 pullets several weeks ago, annd they free range all day. Today got 2 Novagen and 2 Buff Orpington pullets, about same age as existing girls, and they’re confined and separate for now. (Other small animals when the fencing is done).There is a dog kennel on the property with large secure attached run that converted easily to a chicken house with addition of some nesting boxes and perches. I garden and have a stained glass studio attached to the house but with the renovations the house needs, I don’t have a lot of time for glass and I’m fixing the irrigation so I can start gardening when it cools off, it’s much too hot to do much outside right now. Working hard to socialize the hens as although we raise them for eggs (no meat) I want them to be friendly. I
