Nice egg too!!!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Congratulations! It's always so exciting getting that first egg. Which part of east Texas are you from? My wife and I were both raised in east Texas. You're right about your hens being overweight. They would be if they were Leghorns, but they're definitely not Leghorns as Leghorns have yellow legs and lay snow white eggs. Your hens appear to be some kind of mixed breed, perhaps a broiler of some kind. If so, they will not be good layers. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your hens.

@Michael OShayOh!! Thanks for that! I thought they had white legs because they were older. I read that leghorns loose some leg color as they age. So I thought they were old timers lol. But I also read that their combs droop with age and theirs are perky. So I'll research broiler mixes. I'm in Longview. Near Tyler.

You're welcome. I grew up in Greenville, TX. Our high school football team used to play Tyler every year. I don't know if they still do or not. I remember seeing Earl Campbell in person when he played football for Tyler. They whipped us good and went on to win the state championship that year. I guess I'm showing my age.)
