let me see your crew. Any black orp lovers out there?
Glad I could get a little laugh out of you. And glad I joined. Like you I'm here to learn. We used to have leghorns and RI reds. Very good layers. Unfortunately they were very jumpy and liked getting over the fence. These orps are a lot more manageable. But still waiting on eggs."We run these streets" made me crack up this mornin'; I love it!!! Oh and I am sure I love Black Orps (I am beginning to think I love ALL breeds.) I don't have any in my Bubble Bunch though. I am aiming for prolific layers and dual purpose mostly (yeah, we are planning on some good eating come '23). My first purchase included four buff orpingtons. Those girls are prreeeettty. I have SO many photos now and they are not named just the number that produces when my cell takes the photo. Lemme see if I can upload something of what they look like (most of my chick photos are blurry unfortunately).
Cool beans and good for me to know IN case I want to choose another breed. For now I am for some reason stuck on brahmas and Bielefelders. We now have five brahmas and four bielefelders on the way; kinda sorta. They hatch 10/31. I expect 'em home by 11/4. THEN I have been telling myself I am DONE (okay, at least for '22, that is). I wanna let these grow up, start laying and earning their keep. Plus, no more room in the coop.Glad I could get a little laugh out of you. And glad I joined. Like you I'm here to learn. I sit out there and watch my birds trying to see a "pecking order"; I do not recognize one . . . yet. I have seen my buffs kick butt though. Those girls don't seem to be no joke and certainly do not seem docile (at least to the other chickens I should say). They look big and chunky too; were hatched 6/29/22.
I followed ya, fyi.
Have a real good day. I'm about to dress for worship today and a Bible study;
Awesome. I love raising chicks. Watching them grow. And watching them try to establish their little hierarchy. Sounds like you're going to have some Halloween babies. That's fun. Maybe you could name them after horror moviesCool beans and good for me to know IN case I want to choose another breed. For now I am for some reason stuck on brahmas and Bielefelders.
