Hello, complete novice in the house!

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome! I'm sure I've come to the right place! You've got some lovely chickens :) The guy i bought the eggs from couldn't tell me what breed they were. I don't know if that is because the eggs are mixed up or he just didn't know the name of the breed. There is somewhat of a language barrier so i have to guess what people are saying sometimes! But I guess I'll find out when / if they hatch!

I don't have a proper incubator but I've improvised one using an old cupboard with a light sellotaped inside (so hi tech! lol ) I got a shoe box and put a cozy blanket inside to make a nest and put the eggs in and placed it under the light with the sensor of the digital thermometer positioned on top of the eggs. I also added a shallow dish with kitchen paper soaked in water for humidity although i don't have a humidity guage - I'm going to by one today.

We've spent the past two years slowly getting things prepared for chickens - fencing off a nice area for them with a big old walnut tree and a shed for them, it's a nice good space for them i think - but we've had so much other work going on with building the house and other projects that we've never got round to actually getting the chickens. So I'm really excited to finally be doing it!

Here's a picture of my improvised incubator with my eggs :)
