My name is Sarah, I'm originally from Oregon but now live in Texas. I had Ducks growing up, they were random as I had gotten them at auction and since I had alot of room took in six of em
ended up making a small pond and despite their harsh start of life they turned out to be very sweet.
Will never forget the first time they were let out into a green yard, or the 1st time they went into the pond. During migration we would get alot of wild ducks that would stay for a few days to a few weeks, lol they even would follow the others into the duck house.
I enjoy being outside, camping, fishing and such. I've always cared alot about animals, and never understood how people can treat so many so badly.
So I've never owned chickens, but I kinda felt sorry for these little guys when I went into tractor supply and saw them in a discount bin 75% off and there were some ducks to.
So after talking with my hubby we decided on 8 chicks and 2 ducks, told them to pick the ones that you think no one would want. And so those are the ones we ended up with. Other than them saying the chicks were bantams lol, I have no idea what types, though I did figure out one is a Frizzle and one a silky (sp)
Now that they are fully feathered we have out in a temp run area, we are a few weeks from finishing their coop and run that will be completely enclosed with a small easy drain able pond (will not drain in coop run ) will be mostly shaded except for an area toed back, Texas is hot in summer and that's where we plan on have sand for them.
Well that's about it for me, I'm going to post my chicks in the forum to find out what they are
