Welcome to BYC. A little bit of 'crazy' makes life a lot more interesting. My wife once asked, "Why are your really good friends so strange/" My reply, "Exactly how closely have you studied me?"
 
I was unfortunately thrown into a family that thought my hobby was crazy too. A few years later, the birds grew attached to everyone and now it is a family affair! Good luck with your birds and welcome to the BYC flock!
