We clearly haven't tried everything. But we're at the end of our rope. Your advice, please.

Good point. Was worried about the same thing. If I could hang on long enough before the spouse gives her away, I was thinking of a basic Conditioning approach: like, every time she screams, a sound-activated strobe light goes off for a few seconds to distract her. Eventually, she makes the connection. My wife finds this to be a little bit too over-the-top. But I would hate to see her go. The chicken. Not my wife. Well, I'd hate to see her go, too.
The problem now being, lights could set her off too. Or if she likes the light, screaming to get it going!

I would just ignore it, i have a hen who crows, quacks, clucks, squeals, moans, lows, moos and hoots, some birds are just naturally noisy! Think of it the same way with humans, some love talking and speak up for themselves loudly whenever they feel smth not right, others are more chill, go with the flow. No need for bribing at all, just let her shut herself up, it might even be sime kind of eggsong? If it sounds painful then take her to the vet immediately, but my hen does this when she's in the coop, never when outside, so she could just want more freedom and excersize, i suggest building a chunnel or smth similar. Good luck!
