Hello everyone from central snowy Indiana. I don't have any chickens yet. But I'm thinking of getting 3 to 4 silky chickens and one runner duck. How much room in the cool do I need? Can the chickens and the duck live together? Would a chicken tractor work or do I need something bigger? Do they need electricity run to the coop? Thanks for any help.

. Ducks are flock animals you will need to get at least 2 of them.

You don't have to have electricity running to coop, but if you can have it safely run out there you won't regret it. I don't use a heat lamp for my girls; but, I love having a light to turn on in the morning when I let them out and evening when they go back in and I give a head count. Or if you need to check on one in the night, Or turning on the exhaust fan on warm summer nights to get air pulling through the coop. Or plugging in a power tool when I want to tweak something in the run and/or coop. Or... You get the idea. If you have the opportunity to install electricity when your building the coop, do it, you won't regret it.
I've never had ducks but hear that they don't make the best roommates for chickens. But I know nothing about it, so defer to somebody who does if a knowledgeable source surfaces.
Good luck.

I think I'm going to go with all females. I think having a rooster would be pressing my luck here.
